Emilia is a girl who wants what all girls want to be loved, to have the time to do the things that are important to her and to spend with people that matter. She is running through life, striving to be the best daughter, friend, girlfriend, lover, wife and mother. She is chasing the notion that creating a fairytalesque life will be fulfilling. But what happens when it’s not? Something’s gotta give. For Em, this sparks a journey of self-discovery, the creation of a sorority, and the initiation of "Operation Seduction". The only question that remains to be answered is, "Why Purple?"
***Warning Adult Content*** Em’s story spans many different phases in her life. It includes mature language, sexual experiences, and adult humour.
The Sexification of Em eBook Laura Kat
I could immediately relate to Em's plight and thought process in the opening scene, as she trudges through her never-ending laundry pile. The whole story was believable and relatable, made all the more so by the easy-flowing writing style and well-placed pop-culture references. What amazed me most, though, was the character development. First, there were no "classic" characters; everyone was very 3-dimentional, with their own conflicts, flaws, and quirks. That not only helped their believability, but it helped the story, as nothing felt "cookie-cutter" and predictable. I was eager to read on, truly having no idea what might happen next. Second, and maybe even more impressive, was the maturation of the characters throughout the story. This was no "Freaky Friday" tale of Em as a teen, young adult, then wife/mother, where the same character was stuck a single body at various points of her life. When she was a teen she thought like a teen, acted like a teen. Later, when she was a mother, you could hardly see any of that young girl left in her...which speaks to the heart-breaking truth of so many of us women who lose ourselves along the way and have to fight to find ourselves again. Thank you for an entertaining, enjoyable, and thought-provoking story that ushered forth many giggles and tears, alike.Product details

The Sexification of Em eBook Laura Kat Reviews
I loved this book! Right from the start I felt connected to the main character, Em. The teenage years resonated with such authenticity - great references to the 90s! I loved tagging along on Em's teenage antics - and could totally relate! Later on, as more grown-up issues presented themselves, Em dealt with them with humour, maturity, humanity and sass - a lot of sass! This book made for a saucy, touching and fun read. It reminded me that spicing things up never hurt anyone ;).
While not my usual type of novel, the cover drew me in and the story kept me reading. Covering the span of Em’s life from her teenage years to motherhood, Em’s journey was fun to read about – and blush-inducing at times! I wasn’t expecting so much of the novel to take place in her early years, but I enjoyed it nonetheless and really liked seeing her growth throughout the novel. There’s a great premise here with a fabulous lesson for women to learn. I did wish the group at the end of the novel was featured a bit more because they were so fun to read about, but it didn’t take away any enjoyment from the novel. All in all, I enjoyed this fast paced, sexy and thought-provoking read.
This is a sweet story of growing up and finding fulfilment with lots of laughs and steamy scenes woven through. Great first book Laura! Looking forward to your next one!
I really enjoyed this book, I love that I could relate to the feelings of "losing yourself" while being a Mom. The sentences were imaginative and yet concise. I liked how the book developed the characters over a long period of time. The friendship angle was another layer to the story. Overall an enjoyable read.
I can't believe I'm the first one to review this book!
I stumbled on it because I liked the cover. The Sexification of Em is written in an excellent and friendly writing style. You can relate quickly with Em and her quest for fulfilment. The author's message to women is a clever one. It's a quick and easy read... a good contemporary romance novel.
I just finished the last page of this amazing book and I already miss it! I downloaded the sample and just couldn't stop reading it, I was completely hooked from the first page. I'm not sure how I came across this book, but I'm glad I did. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
This is such a heart-warming, lovely, and at times, steamy read. The book follows the characters from youth to adulthood, drawing the reader in with their believability and thought-provoking friendships and romances. Laura Kat nails the teenage angst and family drama, and I look forward to reading more of her work.
